Installation testing (of software) is testing full, partial, upgrade, install, or uninstall processes (of software). The installation test for production release is conducted with the objective of demonstrating (software and system) production readiness. Installation testing includes the inventory of configuration items, performed by the application's system administrator, the evaluation of data readiness, and dynamic tests focused on basic system functionality. Following installation testing, a sanity test is performed, if needed.
