The short answer is...
No, I don't.
The long answer is...
Is the paper work, red tape, regulations, time and money consumed
in dealing with bureaucrats worth the prize, when the vast
majority of jobs require no clearance?
Contractors tell me, "No, the pay wasn't worth doing all that nonsense!
Picking up a clearance is a waste of time, a cash liability, and a huge invasion of privacy.
The forms are long and detailed. You're finger printed, photographed,
have a drug screen, criminal background check, and Lord knows what else."
Contractors tell me, "It used to be worth an extra $10/hr.
With my clearance I used to receive a ($25 + $10) / $25 = 40 percent higher rate.
Nowadays picking up a clearance is a pain in the neck that allows you the joy of waiting around
to eventually work for sub-market rates. Economically it's an undefendable decision to get a clearance."
Contractors tell me, "In recessions,
your "ability to get a clearance" or your "interim clearance" is NOT going to get you any jobs!
In recessions, they want "current clearances",
which is a Catch-22 because, unless you already have a "current clearance",
you'll be swallowed up in a huge pile of resumes which, in recessions, grows by the day!"
Contractors also tell me, "Clearances go stale so quickly that it's not worth picking them up!"
